This collection communicates the inner femininity, fragility and strength of the contemporary woman. Women have been fighting for their independence and our perceptions of femininity and the role of women in society have been transformed during the last three centuries. Femininity was traditionally defined by traits such as tenderness, fragility and depth of emotional understanding. Many changes were dictated by social, political and cultural problems and lead us to question how femininity is now defined within the contemporary context. Traits like entrepreneurship, courage, strength, conviction and bravery become attributed to an ideal of a contemporary woman. The collection fuses masculine elements and inner femininity in order to represent a new woman. The colour palette comes from desaturated, soft and pastel images representing tenderness and delicacy of a woman. Edwardian tea dress became the main reference to a traditional feminine standard and feed the collection with highly ornate and decorated elements. Soft handcrafted lace receives a shade of strength being transformed to a new solid and stiff fabric that served perfectly for sculptural skirt and dress. Suffragettes send us to the bravery and independency of a new woman and feed the collection with chains that were previously used by them for chaining to the rails. Loose and relaxed silhouettes grant a new woman comfort and functionality that was initially the privilege of men only. Military accessories inspired this collection for copper tubes that are reminiscent of ammunition and camouflage pattern. Such elements give the collection a taste of harshness yet the flowing fabrics and textiles bring us back to elegance and true feminine power.
